A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO HEALTH

In today’s fast-paced world, balancing physical, mental, and emotional well-being can seem like an ongoing challenge. Whether you're managing work, family, or personal ambitions, it's easy to neglect your body’s needs, particularly when it comes to spinal health. One holistic approach that plays a key role in supporting overall wellness is chiropractic care.

What is Wellbeing?

Wellbeing is more than just the absence of illness; it is a state of complete physical, mental, and social health. It is about feeling energized, balanced, and in harmony with your body. Achieving and maintaining well-being requires attention to key areas; proper nutrition, exercise, rest, mental health and, importantly a healthy body, and this includes a healthy and mobile spine. After all, the spine houses the nervous system, which controls and regulates nearly every function in the body.

How Does Chiropractic Care Help Your Wellbeing:

Chiropractic care indeed helps back pain, but it extends far beyond pain relief. We help focus on improving the relationship between the spine and the nervous system to enhance overall health and well-being.

  • Pain relief and improved mobility: Chiropractic adjustments alleviate chronic pain, including back, neck, and headaches, by rebalancing movement in the spine and reducing nervous system tension. Regular adjustments can improve mobility and range of motion, letting you enjoy daily activities without limitations.

  • Life and work habits: Repetitive strain from movements we do every day is a much more common cause of flare ups than a singular injury such as a lift or fall. Normally, repetitive strain builds up slowly, and so it can appear a flare up ‘comes out of nowhere’ whereas this is not the case. It has actually been slowly getting a little bit more strain each day, which eventually leads to the body not being able to cope with even a small movement. This is where it looks like it suddenly flares up, and we see people say ‘it went out of nowhere’. Having a regular MOT or check up helps to keep you moving well, and stopping too much tension building and therefore reducing future flare ups.

  • Better posture: Poor posture from prolonged desk work or improper mechanics can cause spinal tension and imbalances. Chiropractic treatments help correct these imbalances, improving posture and reducing the pain associated with chronic issues like degenerative changes or conditions.

  • Enhancing the Visceral System: Postural restrictions can also eventually lead to poor thoracic movement which can mean the breathing feels more laboured, or puts pressure on the top of the stomach and abdominal cavity. Many patients report feeling less out of breath or less stomach symptoms after focusing on these areas, but it will depend on the cause.

  • Enhancing the Nervous system: The nervous system is the body’s communication system, and the spine plays a crucial role in protecting and supporting it. Chiropractic care helps maintain
proper spinal mobility, helping the nervous system feel more balanced.

  • Stress Reduction: By reducing physical tension, chiropractic care promotes relaxation and activates the parasympathetic nervous system, helping lower stress levels and improve mood,
ultimately aiding in better sleep. You’ll also get a lovely release of endorphins after your adjustment!

  • Knowledge and Advice: This might be from teaching you tricks to avoid repetitive stress building up in the body to teaching you how the body works. We can advise you on how to prepare your body for getting back to gardening season smoothly, or best footwear if you’re going to suddenly change your walking. We can give you pointers on how to reduce the emotional stress building up in your body or bring awareness to things you might not realise you’re holding tense. It could be to advise you if your gym training is helping your body or if your movement patterns need tweaking.

  • MOT: It is always helpful having somebody that knows your body and can spot the early signs of restriction or change in your body. This way, we can reduce the impact on you through both mobilising the joints and soft tissue, and giving you advice on lifestyle and exercises to avoid it building up in the first place.

  • Chronic Conditions: Many people have chronic (long term) conditions. Wellbeing care is particularly recommended for people in this category, as whilst we cannot get rid of the root cause, it will to help keep it under control.

Conclusion

Pairing Chiropractic Care with healthy lifestyle practices such as regular exercise, good nutrition, mindfulness and adequate rest can amplify positive effects on physical and mental
health. It is especially helpful if you have ongoing issues such as repetitive movement patterns that you can’t easily change, you don’t like doing exercises or you have chronic conditions. If you are looking to prioritise your well-being, consider incorporating chiropractic care into your health care regimen. It is a natural way to support your spine, nervous system, and
overall wellness.
